John B. Butterworth, CPA

Shareholder

John is a native of El Paso, Texas and has been a shareholder of Butterworth & Macias, P.C. since 1982. He has over 40 years of experience as a Certified Public Accountant. He also served as a Board of Director and on the Audit Committee Member of Helen of Troy, a Publicly Traded Company. Before becoming an owner of B&M, John was also a Tax Manager at KPMG Peat Marwick. He graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor of Science and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Melissa L. Macias, CPA

Shareholder

Melissa is also a native of El Paso, Texas and has been a shareholder of Butterworth & Macias, P.C. since 1998. She has more than 25 years of experience as a Certified Public Accountant serving the El Paso area. Melissa graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at El Paso and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Paula S. Gutierrez, CPA

Shareholder | Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor

Paula became licensed in New Mexico and Texas as a Certified Public Accountant in 2016 and is a shareholder at Butterworth & Macias, P.C. She has been with the Firm since 2013.  She has held various accounting positions in private firms, including 12 years as a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, and has over 20 years of experience preparing personal and business tax returns.  She achieved her Masters of Accountancy in 1996 from the University of Texas at El Paso. She is a member of Business Networking International (BNI) - High Noon Chapter and Rotary International - El Paso Sunrise Chapter. She is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.
